This Cookie Policy explains how Civilsphere Educational Services Private Limited (“Prepdha”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the Prepdha websites, web app, and mobile and tablet apps (together, the “Platform”), and the choices you have about them.
It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and, because most of our student users are under 18, our Children’s Privacy Notice. Words like “personal data”, “Data Fiduciary”, and “Data Processor” have the meanings given in our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website or app places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) so it can be recognised on your next visit or as you move between pages. Cookies are widely used to make websites and apps work, work more efficiently, and provide information to the people who run them.
We use the word “cookies” in this Policy as shorthand for cookies and similar technologies, which include:
- Local storage — small amounts of data stored in your browser or app to help the Platform run (for example, remembering where you were in a lesson).
- Pixels and tags — tiny snippets used to understand whether a page loaded or a feature was used.
- Software Development Kits (SDKs) — code built into our mobile and tablet apps that performs similar functions to cookies, such as keeping you signed in or reporting a crash.
- Device and app identifiers — identifiers used to keep your session secure and to run the app reliably.
Cookies can be described in a few ways:
- Session cookies last only while you are using the Platform and are deleted when you close it; persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies are set by Prepdha; third-party cookies are set by a service provider acting on our behalf (see Section 7).
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- sign you in and keep you signed in during a session;
- keep the Platform secure — for example, to help detect and prevent fraudulent logins and misuse;
- make the Platform work properly — for example, balancing traffic across our servers so pages load reliably;
- remember your preferences and choices — such as language or display settings, and your cookie choices themselves; and
- understand and improve the Platform — for example, seeing which features are used and where errors occur, so we can fix problems and make learning better.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to serve targeted advertising.
3. The legal basis for our use of cookies
India does not have a separate “cookie law”; instead, our use of cookies is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it, together with the Information Technology Act, 2000, to the extent cookies involve your personal data.
In practice this means:
- Strictly necessary cookies are used without consent, because they are essential to provide a service you have asked for (such as logging in securely). The Platform cannot function without them.
- Functional and analytics cookies are used only with your consent where consent is required, which you can give or decline through our cookie settings and withdraw at any time, as easily as you gave it.
Where your child uses the Platform, consent for any non-essential cookies is handled through the parental-consent arrangements described in our Children’s Privacy Notice.

We do not use a separate “advertising” or “marketing” cookie category, because we do not advertise to users on the Platform.
5. The specific cookies we use
The exact cookies in use can change as we improve the Platform. We keep our cookie settings panel up to date so that you can always see the current categories in use and make your choices there. If you would like the current list of specific cookies and their providers, you can request it at any time using the contact details in Section 12, and we will provide it.
6. Cookies and children
Because most students on Prepdha are under 18 — and Indian law treats anyone under 18 as a child — we are especially careful with student-facing experiences.
- Student-facing experiences are designed to use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the educational service to function and to keep it secure.
- We do not use cookies to track, profile, or behaviourally target children.
- We do not serve advertising to children, and we do not place advertising or tracking cookies on student-facing pages.

7. Third-party service providers
Some cookies or similar technologies may be set by service providers acting on our behalf — for example, an analytics provider that helps us understand Platform performance, or, on payment pages, our payment processor that helps complete a transaction securely.
These providers act as our Data Processors. They are bound by contract to protect the data and use it only to provide their service to us. We do not permit them to use data collected through the Platform for their own advertising, and we do not allow advertising cookies in student-facing experiences.
We do not sell personal data collected through cookies, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
8. Your choices and how to control cookies
You have several ways to control cookies:
Our cookie settings. Where consent is required, we ask for it through a cookie banner or settings panel when you first use the Platform, and you can review and change your choices at any time through the cookie settings. Declining non-essential cookies will not stop you using the core learning features.
Your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, block or delete them, and set preferences for first- and third-party cookies. You will usually find these options under “Settings” → “Privacy” in your browser:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Clear browsing data
- Safari — Settings/Preferences → Privacy
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security
Your device and app settings. On mobile and tablet, you can manage app permissions and reset advertising identifiers in your device’s privacy settings, and clear app storage for the Prepdha app.
Browser signals. Where we are required to do so, we will respect recognised browser-based opt-out signals. Please note there is no single agreed industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals, so their effect can vary between websites.
9. What happens if you disable cookies
- Blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from working — for example, you may not be able to sign in or stay signed in.
- Blocking functional cookies may mean the Platform does not remember your preferences.
- Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to learn on the Platform; it only means we receive less information to help us improve it.
10. How this Policy relates to our other notices
This Cookie Policy explains the technologies we use. What personal data we collect and how we handle it is explained in our Privacy Policy, and how we protect children specifically is explained in our Children’s Privacy Notice. If there is any inconsistency about children’s data, the Children’s Privacy Notice governs.
11. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, our practices, or the law. When we do, we will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date above. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
